Applebee's offering free food to veterans and service members.

Applebee's restaurants are offering a limited menu for free to veterans and service members. Show up on Veterans Day, November 11, and show proof of being a veteran or service member, and the free entree is on its way! Granted, it is not everything on the menu, and just a gimmick, but what the heck. It is a small token for honoring military service. Of course you pay for drinks, tips, and other expenses. Probably a lot of people have decided that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a pacifist. Someone who was against military service. Many have cited this. Before he makes any references to military service, he gives quite a history of the conflict in Vietnam, starting with shortly after World War II, up to present day 1967. New Grants and Scholarships for Veteran's Dependents.

There are numerous grants for dependents and survivors of veterans and service members. Federal Pell Grants are given in full to dependents of veterans who died in Iraq or Afghanistan after 9-11. This means no matter what financial situation this student has, the will get the full amount, which at the moment is $5,550. Other students must meet other requirements. You need to fill out a FAFSA, and then let your college financial aid office know that you are under the special circumstances given to students whose parent died in Iraq or Afghanistan. There is no question or line on the FAFSA to get this grant in full. You cannot get a double Pell Grant. If you qualify anyway for it, you cannot get another using this eligibility. There is also the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship. This extends the Post 9-11 GI Bill to children of fallen soldiers. USS Constitution to sail under own power

The USS Constitution to sail under its own power for just the second time in more than 100 years. The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship still operating anywhere in the world. It earned the nickname "Old Ironside" in a battle during the War of 1812. The USS Constitution got the better of the HMS Guerriere from Britain. The ship will sail in and around Boston Harbor to commemorate that battle. The USS Constitution first sailed in 1797 and stopped sailing under its own power in 1881. 200 years later, it sailed again. Obama addresses Marines in Florida

President Obama was in Jacksonville, Florida, recently and spoke the the Marines. Here is an excerpt from the speech he gave. We are highlighting this to show that words, on both sides of the political aisle, can indeed be used in correct ways. "We're reminded of this again with today's helicopter crashes in Afghanistan.
