VA Health Funding, Website for Kids of Military

Last Friday, President Obama signed the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act of 2009. It provides funding for VA health care one year in advance. Not the usual piecemeal. It is one of the rare times the VA knows up front when and how much funding they get. VA health care workers do a stellar service, but many times lack the resources to get the best job done. Before the government takes over any civilian health care, they need to get the VA's act together!

The VA has also started a website specifically targeting kids of veterans and military service members. The site also gives resources for all kids to learn what a service the veterans of this country have done. Encouraging kids to be patriotic is one of our goals as well. Supporting kids of military service members needs to be enhanced as well. We don't think kids in this country grow up feeling as patriotic as they used to. It has gotten better over the last 30 years, but is still lacking.

Sen. Specter wants Veterans Administration to stop using booklet.

This is a follow up to the blog post below.

Sen. Arlen Specter, D-PA, has called for a hearing on the booklet of end of life for veterans. We also find the book very disgusting. Please read the blog post below for more info on this booklet.

Many people are now getting on board to dump this stupid booklet. We urge you to contact you congressman and demand it be taken out!

Veterans already face end of life choices

The Death Panels have been debated and debated. Are they in, or are they out?

Veterans have already faced such questions. There is a booklet supported by the VA that goes into detail about what end of life care they want or need. The questions become quite personal. They seem rather intrusive. No, the word death panel is not in them. But the under current is clear. It does indeed talk about pulling the plug and being a financial burden. If you don't think it's real, read the whole thing here. If the link fails, the government took it offline. They are afraid it will be misconstrued. There is no misinformation. It is what it is. Make your own judgments. Then decide if this is what you want the government doing with health care.

If the link has been taken offline, you can read more about it here.

VA Bonuses are a sham and warning

The Veterans Administration is in the red. Yet, they are now accused of handing out bonuses to employees the last couple of years. $24 million worth. A retired official Jennifer S. Duncan, was handing out bonuses left and right. As if the money was hers to do with what she wanted, reimbursing people for tuition and other things not authorized. She is also accused of hiring relatives.

According to their records, the backlog of VA claims rises. Barack Obama has said he wants it a priority to clear the backlog. Slim chance with people like that running the office.

This is just a warning about any health care bill that gets introduced. We treat our veterans pretty lousy. We need to clean up and prioritize the VA administration and the VA health system before we do anything with national health care. The VA hospitals do as good a job as they can. But they are severely lacking being a top notch health organization through no fault of the employees. It is a government run program. Nuff said.

Female Veterans Have not got Proper Health Care

The Senate on Tuesday was holding hearings on the way female veterans have struggled to get health and other needed care. Easy to believe, but it is not right. When we think of veterans, we automatically think MEN. But women have been a huge part of our military force since the beginning. Female veterans have shown they can function in all capacities. They deserve better. We hope things change quickly for the brave women who are doing their duty to the utmost in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Don't just think boys when talking about supporting our troops. The girls are in the fight as well. When you see a female member of the armed forces, give them a special thanks.

Also, it may be a good idea to mention that even though they are having trouble getting help, it is still a great career move for many girls. There is no shame in the military. It is a good job and honors your country. Men and women both are vital elements of the finest military in the world.
