Releasing a terrorist, oil, and politics.

Scotland releasing a terrorist, Lockerbie bombing by Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, is absolutely unconscionable. Don't tell us that the UK knew nothing. The United Kingdom runs EVERY piece of foreign policy by Scotland. And if this had anything to do with oil, heads should roll.

Is this the kind of administration you want? Dealing and satisfying terrorists? Do you think the UK does anything without the United States being at least in on the details? Never. Not going to happen. This whole mess and deal stinks like yesterday's diapers.

Write and contact your congressman and woman to hold the UK accountable for such crap. Obama gives only lip service when he says it is "disturbing." Remember, this is the man who wants to sit don't with that dictator from Iran who stole the election. This is the same administration who had no backbone when innocent people were gunned dwon in the streets of Tehran.

Make no mistake about it. This is the kind of mentality that WE voted into office.

George Bush did anything and everything to keep this country safe. A lock em uo and throw away the key policy. That's a damn good one to have. We make NO apologies for keeping this country safe. We make NO apologies for how badly terrorist suspects are treated. The end game is to keep this country safe. Let's focus on keeping the bad guys out. Not pandering them. They mean us only harm. Period. Why on earth are we even thinking about giving terror suspects rights? Get a grip on reality people!

Make no mistake about it. This deal would never had happened if Bush and Blair were still in office. Is this the change you want? Remember how people thought Iraq was for oil? Now we see it plainly was not.

New rules for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

For the next 60 days, the Veterans Affairs Department will be taking public input on new rules for post traumatic stress disorder.

The rules now require diagnosing and corroboration with a claims worker to verify it had been caused and resulted from a stressor condition. Under the new rule, just a diagnoses would be enough. Post traumatic stress, shell shock, or battle fatigue is all the same thing. We hope the rule gets changed and our veterans are able to get compensation and help.

You can visit http://www.regulations.gov and do a search for RIN 2900-AN32 in the keyword search box. It will show up at the bottom.

Pentagon wants a no smoking military

The pentagon is seriously considering making the military smoke-free. Yessiree! Your government is hard at work thinking up stupid stuff like this!

The military exists to kill people and break things. Not exactly a bastian of health. Our soldiers are put in harms way everyday. Maybe the knuckleheads did not think about that.

If smoking causes soldiersto be a little more comfortable, so beit! Apparently the pentagon worries about the health costs related to smoking. I guess they did not consider the health risks of going to war. Soldiers are sent into hamrs way daily, and get killed, injured, and maimed.

If we really want to think about soldiers health, let's create things to make the battlefield safer. Not banning vices.

With the idiots coming up with this smoke-free plan, we wonder what's next. A war-free military? Is this the kind of thinking we are getting from this current administration? Does anybody hav half a brain there?

We urge you to contact your congressman and kill this bad idea.

Deeadliest month for United States

August is now the deadliest month for American forces in Afghanistan.

45 troops so far killed in August.
44 killed in July.

The soldiers are doing a standup job in a difficult situation. Currently there are about 61,000 total fighting in Afghanistan.

Part of the reason for more deaths is that the election was being disrupted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen soldiers. We want them to know that there are millions of Americans who appreciate them and think they are doing the best service in the world.

Commentary:
Is there a double standard now in news reporting? Afghanistan is Obama's war. Where are the anti-war protesters? Where is the news media, adding up the bodies and giving us a daily body count? Day after day we had to put up with Bush being charged as a warmonger. Is the news media giving Obama a pass? Why? Because it's Obama? Not right. Bush did what he thought was right. Obama is doing what he thinks is right. Media second guesses Bush and berates him, allows Obama a free ride.

However, we are glad that we have no nightly body counts and crazy people on nightly TV doing idiotic things that undermine our troops. Maybe the news media realizes Bush was not a complete idiot after all.

Terrorists, Lou Gehrig's disease

Terrorists are out to kill innocent American lives. We make no apologies for how they are treated. The number one priority is to keep America safe. Period. If they treat the mastermind of 9-11 badly, so what? Who cares? They ruthlessly behead Americans, broadcast it, and we need to coddle them? Read them there rights? Give them a cushy bed? Get real, people. We deal with terrorists the way they need to be dealt with. If we don't, how can we keep America safe? Maybe we should just kill them when we encounter them. Then we don't have to deal with them.

1800 Veterans were sent notices of having Lou Gehrig's disease. Why they are even sending out notices is beyond us. What happen to the personal touch? But the kicker is that many who got notices do not have the disease. How does that grab you? Socialized medicine at it's best.

Veterans already face end of life choices

The Death Panels have been debated and debated. Are they in, or are they out?

Veterans have already faced such questions. There is a booklet supported by the VA that goes into detail about what end of life care they want or need. The questions become quite personal. They seem rather intrusive. No, the word death panel is not in them. But the under current is clear. It does indeed talk about pulling the plug and being a financial burden. If you don't think it's real, read the whole thing here. If the link fails, the government took it offline. They are afraid it will be misconstrued. There is no misinformation. It is what it is. Make your own judgments. Then decide if this is what you want the government doing with health care.

If the link has been taken offline, you can read more about it here.

VA Bonuses are a sham and warning

The Veterans Administration is in the red. Yet, they are now accused of handing out bonuses to employees the last couple of years. $24 million worth. A retired official Jennifer S. Duncan, was handing out bonuses left and right. As if the money was hers to do with what she wanted, reimbursing people for tuition and other things not authorized. She is also accused of hiring relatives.

According to their records, the backlog of VA claims rises. Barack Obama has said he wants it a priority to clear the backlog. Slim chance with people like that running the office.

This is just a warning about any health care bill that gets introduced. We treat our veterans pretty lousy. We need to clean up and prioritize the VA administration and the VA health system before we do anything with national health care. The VA hospitals do as good a job as they can. But they are severely lacking being a top notch health organization through no fault of the employees. It is a government run program. Nuff said.

Colleges Ignoring Military Experience

Many veterans are returning or just starting college for the first time. They were probably told by recruiters and other military personnel that their military schooling and experience should count for some college credit. Unfortunately, this is not the case at most colleges and universities.

Up to a half million veterans are using the new GI Bill this year. But colleges are going to make them basically start over, taking classes that they may already have knowledge and experience in. So, for most of the veterans in college, it means sitting through and paying money for things they really should not have to.

Most colleges should award credit for physical education, however. At least this was the case in past years.

If your college or university does not automatically award you some type of credit for your military experience, we encourage you to contact your school. Make them aware of what they should be doing. Many military schools are just as book intense as college classes.

I myself went through boot camp, basic hospital corps school, and pharmacy tech school. That took the complete first year of my enlistment. When I got out, California was actually generous. I was qualified as an EMT, pharmacy tech, and could have taken the LVN test. I also got credit for physical education from Cal State San Bernardino and was exempt from PE. I first got an AS degree in Chemistry, and had to take general chemistry basically all over again. I learned most of that in the pharmacy tech school which was 6 months.

Bottom line, you may make your college choice based on what they give you as college credit for your military service. This will save you time as well as money.

Elections in Afghanistan

The elections in Afghanistan have been called successful by Barack Obama. There were many threats carried out by taliban forces, but many Afghans were able to vote.

No matter how you feel about war, the right to vote and freedom are always at the heart of why America sends its men and women to danger. We fight for freedom. Simple. We make no apologies for fighting for the same freedoms people here have.

We salute all of our military, its supporters, the foreign countries who also sent troops, the famailies, and especially those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

The United States should never stand on the sidelines. There is nobody else in the world. Somehow it seems strange that without our military, we have no freedoms. And yet many people who enjoy these freedoms are fully prepared to live the same life as others without them. As if freedom in America is free and forever. It's not.

Freedom is never free. Never has been. People die. People do bad things. People make mistakes. But our motives are always on the side of right and justice. Remember that the next time you vote. The blood of a soldier is on that ballot. The tear of a fallen soldier's family stains the ballot box. The hardships of men and women on the battlefield are empowering elections. If you don't vote, you disgrace them. Voting is easy. The right to do it has been hard. Do the easy thing. Vote.

Women Marines in Afghanistan

Women are technically not supposed to be in combat with the Marines. But some women in Afghanistan are need because Marines have to deal with civilians and women are encountered when patrolling Afghanistan. Because of this and the touchy subject of women and Muslims, it is appropriate to have women deal with women. There are some brave women in our Marines that are putting themselves at risk to help with the mission.

These women Marines are even wearing head scarves out of respect. Now we can't exactly support being out of uniform, we do know that many military undercover missions are done wearing something other than a uniform. So we will salute these women and say job well done.

Stories like these stay under the radar. It reinforces who the United States has always taken the high road when dealing with civilians. Too much coverage is given to killing and not for the good things our military does.

Our military is fighting the enemy. The bad guys. We make no apologies for anything done when it comes to completing the mission at hand.

And women Marines need to be saluted, as well as all women in our armed forces.

Flying flag at half staff for Michael Jackson. You're kidding, right?

In Carson, California, the mayor decided to fly the flag at half staff on the day of Michael Jackson's funeral. Now we are making no judgments about MJ, but flying the flag at half staff is an honor that is reserved for select individuals. It is not a tool to make political or other statements. Michael Jackson does not fit this honor. Very few celebrities would. Certainly Bob Hope was a true American hero and deserved half staff. The mayor of Carson knew better. But some younger folks decided to hoodwink him into doing it. How crazy is that? The mayor, Jim Dear could have used it as a teaching moment. Instead, he turned the honor into a joke. A joke played against military veterans who see half staff as a very high honor.

The mayor took matters in hand because of a 1996 Carson law that gave the mayor free reign on flag flying. Luckily, Mayor Jim Dear has seen the error of his ways. After meeting with a veteran's group, he decided to remember to only do it for traditional deaths. But come on. You would think this would have been in his brain from the beginning.

Military Recruiting Officers

New ads are coming out that look like corporate ads. But they are geared for college graduates, or those graduating college. The Army has enough soldiers, so they are looking for more officers. Now is the right time. Jobs are hard to come by and college graduates are finding it tough to get a career going.

The military is a great career. And contrary to popular belief, most Army personnel does not see combat. Most bases and jobs are stateside. it takes a lot to run the military, from food to paper work. The military is an honorable career and comes with the best benefits of ANY job you could ask for. Sure it's hard work. But what good career is easy? Read more about becoming an officer today.

California Veterans get a break on new GI Bill

California veterans who were eligible under the new GI Bill for benefits, had been getting a raw deal. The GI Bill covers tuition at the same level as a public college. The problem is, California public colleges and universities do not charge tuition. They call them fees. So, California vets were getting pennies compared to a state like Texas, that will be doling out thousands. Yesterday, to remedy this wrong, the rules have changed for Californians. They will consider fees as tuition when figuring out how much a veteran under the new GI Bill gets. It still varies by state, which is not fair. Many veterans in some states will get a full ride to the most expensive private institutions. We feel the whole thing needs to be changed. All veterans should have the same status money-wise no matter where they live. Besides, the cost of living in California is staggering compared to most other states. And to give California veterans so much less seems very unfair. Read more about the new GI Bill.

Military Personnel and Social Internet Sites

The military is considering banning members from using twitter and other such sites. The Marines have already done this throughout the branch.

We know that military members use these sites for keeping up with family members when they are away on deployment or stationed far away. Here are a few guidelines we hope will keep you safe.

Don't twiiter, facebook, or any other social site on a military computer. Don't risk your job for doing something silly, and endangering lives.

Email is probably a safer way to communicate back home. Your page is not viewable to the public.

If you twitter or facebook, block all users except those you accept. But be leery of accepting new readers. In fact, you should manually add people who you know. Do not add anyone who just contacts you.

Never, ever use your real name in accounts you discuss military matters, including your whereabouts, job, station, etc. Only your family members should know what your fake user name is. But we would rather you NOT discuss anything related to the military and your job. Even by email. Your family really only wants and needs to know you are safe. Phone calls are a lot better, but even then, discuss things wisely.

There are many ways that people use to get into your social site accounts. Beware that anything and everything you post, no matter whether you set your account to private or not, may be compromised.

Send cards and letters home. Believe it or not, even in this internet age, a personal note from you is heart felt. It may take more time, but it will be much appreciated. Encourage your family to write to also. But never discuss things you would not want the enemy to know. Especially on postcards!

So, to all military members and their families, we salute you and want you back safe and sound!

Why the government needs to stay out of health care.

Medicare is broke.
Social Security is broke.
AMTRAK was a bust.
Post Office is broke.
VA Health system and hospitals are lacking funding and upgrades.
Cash for Clunkers is clunking the tax payer with funds for new cars.
And it's broke.
85% of Americans say they like their healthcare.
Healthcare isn't broke. Health insurance may be, but we enjoy the best health care in the world. But our veterans don't. We need to fix the VA hospital system first before we even talk about insuring other people. Let's get out priorities straight.

If you want to see the future of any government run health care, just look at the VA Hospital system. It's not even close to working.
